Artifact #2
Artifact #2 - D'Oyly Carte Opera Collection Arrangement Project
Program Outcome - PO2, PO3
Professional Value - PV1
This artifact was completed in the course LI818: Archival Arrangement and Description. This course was taught by Ashley Todd-Diaz and its purpose was to introduce the theories, terms, principles, and methods of arrangement and description of
documents and materials in archives. For this particular assignment, I was tasked with creating an arrangement for an unorganized sample of digital records. This assignment helped me with PO2 and PO3, which deal with information resources and the organization of information. Creating an arrangement to a collection is a way to manage, maintain, and organize
knowledge. It is a way to start imparting meaning to chaos, and it is a skill I must continue to develop if I plan on making a career as an archivist. Completing this assignment also helped me with PV1: Service. An arrangement is one of the first building blocks for quality client–centered services at an archive. Good arrangements help with speedy and easier reference, which in turn means happy patrons.
Below is my arrangement project and quote from the instructor.

"Great work! This showed good reflection and clear, theory-based decision making. I appreciate that you kept the researcher in mind while thinking things through and did not have a problem basing decisions on what was appropriate for each unique series. Your arrangement is polished and works well, and the level of detail for each item is a good example of being informative without being overwhelming."
